Basics about DRAKE

What is DRAKE?

DRAKE is an exclusive Drupal-Edition made by helpworx. This distribution was created with the special needs of knowledge management in mind, needed in companies. DRAKE arised from a project which helpworx was realising for a leading Customer-Care-Center in Cologne, Germany. Many of DRAKEs features were created from real operative needs from this project. The open source CMS Drupal was extended in several ways, some modules were programmed exclusively for DRAKE.

What does the name DRAKE mean?

DRAKE is an abbreviation for "Drupal Rapid Knowledge Edition".

Drupal ist a successful CMS Systems that is used for many projects all over the world. Drupal is scalable, stable and safe because it is based on standard-technology like PHP and MySQL. I like the design of DRAKE. Is it available as a theme?

Well, yes, the drake theme will be part of the download package which is available soon. But we don't think it would work well on a standard Drupal website, at least not out of the box. It's hardwired to the special distribution it comes with and has been designed to fit perfectly to the special features of DRAKE, especially the guided search. However, with a little knowledge about Drupal theming it might be easy to extract the basic look and feel of the primary links (tabs) and block sections. We'd be happy to get some feedback if you did it!

DRAKE's features

Is guided search the only way of navigation which is included in DRAKE?

No, not at all! Although we promototed this great navigation system on this website to introduce it to people who never heard of 'faceted search' before, there might be scenarios where Guided Search is a bit 'too much' – or hust not the best way to navigate. That's why there are two other options: 1.) An alphabetical index and 2.) a classic tree-sttructure (although we don't like it that much, as explained in our video on the frontpage). Technical stuff

What does 'distribution' mean – is DRAKE a special Drupal installation profile?

Basically, DRAKE is a combination of the Drupal 6 core distribution plus a comprehensive set of modules plus our special theme. Theoratically all this can be included into an installation profile. But since a distribution without at least a little bit of demo content doesn't make sense for DRAKE, we'll rather publish a full dump of our master installation, including some content and all settings we used for our master.

Which modules are part of your distribution?

Well,...many! We will publish a detailed list of the main components of the DRAKE distribution shortly. Stay tuned!

Is DRAKE a fork of Drupal in any way?

No, of course not! Everything included in our DRAKE distribution is 100% compatible to the standard version (core distribution) of Drupal.
